About Myself

Family Law AdviceHaving practiced Law since qualifying in 1977, I took the somewhat unusual step in 2001 of resigning from a successful Partnership in order to establish my own firm, based in an office at my home in the Yorkshire Dales. The principal aims in doing so were to improve the quality of my working life and to enjoy developing a close relationship with my clients, to whom I offer the highest professional standards whilst maintaining a very personal approach.

I am a member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association) I am also one of the first lawyers in the country to be trained as a collaborative lawyer. For further information on Resolution and collaborative law, see SERVICES

Philosophy

My Practice is committed to providing an unparalleled personal, efficient and quality service. Advice is offered in clear and understandable terms. Based on years of experience, I adopt a reasoned but firm approach, without resorting to aggressive or hostile tactics.

The Practice

Whilst still subject to strict compliance with all the requirements of the Law Society, this is a Practice with a difference:

  • I appreciate that clients prefer the convenience and comfort of being visited in their own home. Should this not be possible, alternate arrangements can be made for consultations to be conducted elsewhere.

  • My overheads are much smaller than the more traditional type of firm and therefore I am able to set my hourly charging rates at a level considerably lower than those presently allowed by local County Courts and adopted by other Practices in the area

  • Many people are unable due to work or family commitments to visit their Solicitors during normal working hours. I am available to see clients at weekends or in the evenings, by arrangement.
